Contracting

We prefer that our agents carry E&O at all times. Most carriers require agents to carry E&O for appointment. You can use your existing E&O coverage with all our carriers. The current carriers that do not require E&O are Banner and TransAmerica. This is subject to change at any time. Please call GAIN before contract submission, if you don’t have E&O.

Yes, to get a case successfully issued and paid, it is mandatory for both agents to be state licensed and appointed with carrier.

Yes, a new contract will be required in most cases unless a release can be obtained and agent transfer request completed.

Yes, both you and the agency have to be state licensed and appointed. Some carriers allow the request on one contract whereas others require separate paperwork for both. Please call GAIN if assignment of commission is involved.

Some states are restricted/pre appointment states that require an agent to be contracted with a carrier before soliciting and submitting business. Carriers have their own guidelines for these states, but the most common pre-appointment states are follow: AL, CT, DE, GA, IN, KS, KT, LA, MN, MT, NC, OR, PA, UT, WI, & Washington D.C.
In states not mentioned above, agent contract and client application can be submitted at the same time. Please call GAIN if you are unsure about whether your state is pre-appointment or not.
GAIN does need to be licensed in the following states before you can submit agent contracting or client applications. Please call us if you are soliciting in one or more of these states:
CA, FL, GA, KY, LA, MA, MT, NC, NM, NY, PA, SD, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WV

This depends on the carrier, but most pay the resident fees. Some carriers require agents to submit non-resident fees along with contracting paperwork. Please contact GAIN regarding appointment fees in your state.

Carriers will allow agent appointments only with a GA contract and/or production requirements. Please call GAIN for details or alternate solutions

W-9 is a requirement for all contracts and EFT is required by most carriers. Please be sure to include a voided check for EFT setup. If the carrier allows check payments, there is usually a high minimum – maybe $100 or sometimes $500. All required forms are included in the contracting paperwork GAIN can supply you with.

No, but we require all agents to work with us for at least 6 months before discussing annualization with the carriers that do have that option available. Please call GAIN if you have any further questions or concerns.

Absolutely. Contract paperwork can be emailed, or faxed to our toll free fax number at 888-305-8151, along with a copy of your current license, E&O, and void check. Contracts are processed on the same day of receipt if all information is filled out correctly. In case of missing information, you will be notified of requirements the same day.

In most cases, it takes about 2 weeks to be appointed and get a writing number. You will be notified of the writing number by GAIN on receipt. Appointments can sometimes be delayed due to background check(s). Please remember that some states allow submission of client application along with contracting paperwork. Please refer to carrier guidelines as above.
